Filtrate Rate
The filtrate rate (q) will not be equal to the feed rate (Q) because solids and moisture will be retained in the filter cake. Firstly, the volume fraction concentration of the feed is required:
where s is the slurry concentration by mass fraction and the filtrate rate is related to the feed rate by a material balance giving:
